چکیده

This paper is a sequel to the authors’ articles which provided test data on progressive collapse of full-scale steel stiffened-plate structures without and with passive fire protection (PFP) under lateral patch loading in fires [1,2]. presents new computational models for analyses heat transfer fire-induced behaviour stiffened plate or PFP. For this purpose, transient thermal elastic-plastic large-deformation finite element were formulated. The developed validated by comparison data. novelty associated procedure analysis critical contribution safety engineering plated structures.

PROGRESSIVE COLLAPSE ANALYSIS OF RCC STRUCTURES

The  study  aims  to  investigate  the  progressive  collapse  behaviour  of  RCC  building  under extreme  loading  events  such  as  gas  explosion  in  kitchen,  terroristic  attack,  vehicular collisions  and  accidental  overloads.  The  behavioural  changes  have  been  investigated  and node displacements  are computed when the building is subjected to sudden collapse of the  load beari...

Effect of Structural Height on the Location of Key Element in Progressive Collapse of RC Structures

After the failure of an element in a structure, its loads should be redistributed on the other elements and the structure must provide some new paths to carry the load. If such new load paths are not provided, collapse progression will begin in the structure. As the beginning of progressive collapse in a structure is more sensitive to the missing of an element, the location of that element is m...

Finite Element Analysis of Thin Steel Plate Shear Walls

Steel plate shear walls (SPSWs) in buildings are known to be an effective means for resisting lateral forces. By using un-stiffened walls and allowing them to buckle, their energy absorption capacity will increase significantly due to the postbuckling capacity. The post-buckling tension field action of SPSWs can provide substantial strength, stiffness and ductility. This paper presents the Fini...

The shaping of a triangle steel plate into an equilateral vertical steel by finite-element modeling

The orthogonal processes to shape the triangle steel plate into a equilateral vertical steel are examined by an incremental elasto-plastic finite-element method based on an updated Lagrangian formulation. The highly non-linear problems due to the geometric changes, the inelastic constitutive behavior and the boundary conditions varied with deformation are taken into account in an incremental ma...

Finite Element Prediction of the Behavior of Profiled Steel Sheet Dry Board Folded Plate Structures an Improved Model (RESEARCH NOTE)

This paper describes an alternative finite element model that would yield more accurate results in the prediction of the behavior of Profiled Steel Sheet Dry Board (PSSDB) folded plate structures, which can be considered as an improvement of an earlier proposed model. The PSSDB folded plate structures are being proposed as an alternative to traditional forms of roof construction. The PSSDB syste...
